EPSR is wide-ranging, broad-minded and embraces all the key themes and approaches of the discipline; it is not restricted to any particular methodology or regional focus. EPSR encourages scholarship that reaches across fields of substantive interest and methodological commitments and as such, it reflects the full richness and diversity of the discipline and at the same time seeks creatively to reach beyond its borders.
Launched in 2009, EPSR has become established as a top tier journal of political science, achieving consistently strong and improving Impact Factors each year. Submission and rejection rates are very healthy and the current editorial team are working to implement a number of innovations to build on this success. The journal has a solid subscriber base and growing readership levels. This role not only provides an opportunity to build on this excellent work and help shape the future of the journal, but also to contribute to the furtherment of the discipline through the high profile work of the ECPR.

About the role
Wil Hout completes his term of office at the end of 2016, so the ECPR is seeking a replacement to work alongside Carlos Closa and the rest of the editorial team to meet the objectives of this successful journal.
- The editorial team works together to:
- Receive submissions, evaluate and send them for peer review;
- Process the articles accordingly on the basis of the reviews received;
- Supervise final revisions of manuscripts and determine the order of publication;
- Determine the composition of the editorial board;
- Produce the annual report delivered by the editors at the end of the calendar year;
- Represent the journal at major political science conferences;
- Attend the annual Publications Retreat at the ECPR’s offices, to meet with the Publications Board, publisher and other ECPR editors;
- Take a leading role in scholarly debate about challenges and new opportunities facing political science and academic publishing; and
- Contribute to/lead innovations designed to increase the reach and impact of the journal.
Person specification
The ECPR is seeking an energetic and experienced political scientist with an international reputation and a wide range of contacts in Europe and the rest of the world. Candidates would ideally have some experience of the international publishing industry, either as an editor or author, and a high proficiency in written English if it is not their first language.
Applications are welcomed from all sections of the political science community. Preference will be given to applicants from an ECPR member or Associate Member, or an institution which is committed to joining the ECPR at least for the duration of the Editorship. The successful applicant will receive an annual editorial fee and a fund to cover travel expenses incurred in attending meetings related to the journal.
