ECTS Credits and Grading System

Participants have the opportunity to have up to four ECTS credits for a one-week course or eight ECTS credits for a two-week confirmed by CEU based on a total workload of 25-30 hours for one credit.

On successful completion of the required work as detailed below, and following receipt of your grades from the Instructor, CEU will send participants details of their credits.

In addition to ECTS credits, all participants who attend 80% of their course classes will receive a certificate of attendance, provided that they attend the sessions and sign the attendance sheets.

Please note, if participants wish to obtain credits they must inform their Instructor on the first day of the course when they sign the attendance sheet in class.

Refresher Courses

No ECTS credits are awarded for these courses (only a Certificate of Attendance).

One-Week Main Courses

ECTS credits are awarded for successful completion of the following:

  • Participants attending the course: 2 credits (pass/fail grade)
  • Participants attending the course and completing one task (see below): 3 credits (to be graded)
  • Participants attending the course, and completing two tasks (see below): 4 credits (to be graded)

If you are taking two one-week main courses you will receive separate credits for each course.

Two-week Main Courses

ECTS credits are awarded for successful completion of the following:

  • Participants attending the course: 4 credits (pass/fail grade)
  • Participants attending the course and completing one task (see below): 6 credits (to be graded)
  • Participants attending the course, and completing two tasks (see below): 8 credits (to be graded)

Tasks

The task(s) to be assessed by the Instructor and required to acquire credits are listed below and must be graded (see below under tasks).

  • Daily Assignments (graded daily, without feedback, as 0 - Did not submit, 1 - Insufficient, 2 - Sufficient, 3 - Excellent)
  • Take-home or seated exam (we will arrange a date suitable for everyone)
  • Take-home paper (the Instructor will set a deadline for completion but no later than three weeks after the end of the course)
  • Class project

We ask Instructors to make available at least two of these four options to the students.

Grading Scale

Below is the CEU Grading Scale.  The Department uses a system of letter grades and grade points for evaluating participants’ work, including the thesis, according to the grading scheme of the University.  The various letter grades can be translated to a 100-point scale of grade points:
