Abstract

This panel sheds critical perspectives on seminal issues at the intersection of migration law and governance. Papers critique the policy linkage between migration and development from an equality perspective; explore how collective action reveals the tension between normative aspirations and the actual impact of EU law in migration; ascertain the discrimination potential of AI-based tools deployed in migration; and, deconstruct the EU’s ‘refugee crisis’ narrative, revealing it to be a crisis of principles. Interdisciplinary research in this panel draws from law, public policy, political sociology, and social movement studies.
