Carolina Plescia's prize-winning monograph on 'Split-Ticket Voting'

Carolina Plescia has just had her first book published by ECPR Press. Assistant Professor in the Department of Government, University of Vienna, Carolina developed the monograph from her Jean Blondel PhD Prize-winning thesis, which also serves as the book's title: Split-Ticket Voting in Mixed-Member Electoral Systems: A Theoretical and Methodological Investigation.

Said Carolina, 'Much is known today about how people vote when they have one vote at their disposal to elect a representative body; however, very little is known about how people vote when they cast two ballots.' As a result, she has produced an enlightening and first-of-its-kind look at voter behaviour.

Adapting the thesis into a book-length analysis allowed Carolina to dig deeper into this crucial and current phenomenon. Bringing to light important data, Plescia raises questions about how voters deal with complex electoral rules. This data is important to voters everywhere – and to those they are voting for.
