The ECPR currently offers three forms of funding to enable its members to attend the Joint Sessions of Workshops: the Professional Grant, Travel and Accommodation Grant and the Workshop Directors' Grant.

Joint Sessions Professional Grant

This grant is targeted specifically at newer or retired members of the political science profession and members of the profession who are on temporary contracts.

Each recipient of a Joint Sessions Professional Grant will receive up to €500* to cover travel and accommodation costs incurred in attending the Joint Sessions of Workshops. Funding is restricted to three awards per ECPR member institution.

Conditions of application:

  • Applicants must belong to an ECPR full member institution and be employed within the profession for less than five years (i.e. since his/her first appointment as a full-time faculty member) or officially retired.
  • Applicants must be a sole presenter of a workshop paper.
  • Applicants must attend the whole workshop.
  • Applicants must not be receiving any other funding from ECPR or other organisation to attend this event.
  • Applicants must provide a short written statement to support their application.

*This grant cannot be claimed against food/drink or conference fees.

Travel and Accommodation Grant

The Travel and Accommodation Grant is designed to aid the attendance of students at the ECPR's Joint Sessions of Workshops. The Grant contributes up to €500* towards travel and accommodation costs incurred in attending the Joint Sessions.

Funding is restricted to three awards per ECPR full member institution, per event, in any one year and only students who are self-funded (i.e. who receive no financial support from their institution to attend the Joint Sessions).

Conditions of application:

  • Only self-funded graduate students from ECPR full member institutions are eligible to apply.
  • Applicants must be presenting a paper at the Joint Sessions (where the paper is co-authored, the applicant must be the presenter of the paper).
  • Individuals cannot apply if they received the same grant for the previous year’s Joint Sessions.
  • Applicants must submit a letter from their head of department or ECPR Official Representative stating that they are self-funded.

Workshop Directors’ Grant

The Workshop Directors’ Grant covers travel and accommodation expenses, for one Director per workshop to attend the Joint Sessions of Workshops. The Grant of up to €500* is open to all Directors from ECPR full member institutions.

Criteria:

  • Only Workshop Directors from ECPR full member institutions are eligible for this Grant.
  • Workshop Directors do not need to apply for this grant since one Director per workshop is automatically eligible.
  • Claim forms will be sent out immediately following the Joint Sessions.
  • The total of the claim cannot exceed €500*.
