Practicalities

All in-person Workshops will be held at the University of Edinburgh, across various buildings. View schedule-at-glance.

Room allocations for your Workshop are indicated in the Timetable and your Itinerary.

At the University of Edinburgh, fire alarm systems are tested every week. During a test you do not need to evacuate. These tests are scheduled for the following times:

  • Appleton Tower 11:00 on Wednesday
  • 40 George Square 10:53 on Tuesday
  • 50 George Square 10:30 on Thursday

Helping you reconnect safely

As we finally make a return to in-person meetings, we are acutely aware that things have changed considerably since 2019. Our goal is to help you reconnect safely.

While many covid-19 restrictions have now been lifted across the UK, please help us make you and your fellow participants feel as comfortable as possible by following these general guidelines.

Please also carefully review the University of Edinburgh’s Hygiene and Safety Measures. The content is continuously updated, so please keep monitoring this page closely.

Before the event

If you are travelling from overseas, please closely monitor the official travel guidelines of your home country.

Refer to the UK government’s website for the latest and most accurate information about travelling to and within the UK

We recommend that you consider taking a lateral flow test before joining your Workshop.

During the event

Consider that others might not be fully comfortable at large gatherings, and some may be at high risk or immunocompromised.

Wearing of face coverings in indoor areas in Scotland is still required, except for those who are covered by one of the statutory exemptions. Find out more.

If you feel unwell

If you are feeling unwell or test positive for covid-19, please do not attend your Workshop in person. Our Events Team are happy to offer their assistance in arranging virtual participation, should you feel well enough to take part.

If you, or someone within your Workshop, become unwell while on campus, we have arranged a dedicated isolation room (LG10 in 40 George Square) which is at your disposal until you can make your way off campus to self-isolate.
