Prague

Venue and Location

Workshops are held at various locations across the Jinonice Campus and Hollar Building. Please check the correct venue for your Workshop.

You will be informed of the building allocated to your Workshop Sessions after the event registration has closed.

Visa requirements

Visitors who do not qualify for visa-free entry to Czechia must obtain a visa before travelling. If you need a visa for a stay of up to 90 days, you must apply for a Schengen (short-term) visa.

For detailed visa requirements, visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Czechia website.

Important information

  • Visas are not available at border crossings or Prague Airport. If you require a visa and arrive without one, you will be refused entry to Czechia.
  • Travellers with a visa must register with the police within three working days of arrival.

Visa requirements and related rules may be subject to change. If you are in doubt, contact the Czech embassy in your country and apply for your visa as soon as possible.

ECPR can supply a visa invitation letter on request only after receiving the full registration fee, and after the 14-day cooling-off period has passed. ECPR cannot offer any additional guidance on visas.

Getting to Prague

When arranging travel and accommodation, ensure that your booking is refundable. You are responsible for arranging appropriate travel insurance. ECPR is not liable for reimbursing travel or accommodation expenses incurred by participants.

If you can, please consider travelling to Prague by train.
By air

Letiště Václava Havla Praha (Václav Havel Airport) is Prague's international airport. The airport does not have direct metro or train connections to the city centre but is accessible by bus and taxi.

The following bus routes connect the airport to the main metro stations:

City Bus 119
To the Nádraží Veleslavín metro station (green line A) where you can transfer to other metro lines using the same ticket to continue to your destination.

City Bus 100
To Zličín metro station (yellow line B) in the centre of Prague.

Airport Express
To Prague Main station (Hlavní nádraží) (red line C).

By rail

For domestic travel, express trains (rychlík) provide the fastest service between major cities, while local passenger trains (osobní vlaky) are more affordable but make frequent stops.

Direct rail links connect Prague with more than 20 European cities, including:

  • Vienna – 4.5 hours
  • Munich – 5 hours
  • Berlin – 5.5 hours
  • Paris – 10 hours

Tickets are available here.

By taxi

Uber is the main taxi service provider at the airport and must provide a fixed fare before each ride. The final fare must not exceed the agreed price, even with route changes or traffic delays.

By bus

Most international buses will arrive at the Florenc bus station. All bus terminals are easily accessible by metro and the name of the metro stop usually corresponds with the name of the bus terminal. You can check connections and plan your route here.

By road

Prague lies at the nexus of several European highways and is a relatively easy drive from many major regional cities.

  • Nuremberg – 3 hours
  • Berlin, Munich and Vienna – 4 hours
  • Budapest – 5 hours
