Abstract

Recent scholarship in Europe and beyond has documented an increasing polarization of public attitudes on migration and migrant integration. While public support and opposition to migration (and different migrant groups) still varies widely across countries and regions, existing data also point towards a diverse array of individual and contextual level factors that shape people’ perceptions and stances on immigration. This panel bring together papers that provide further evidence on what explains the salience of migration at the societal level, the social climate around diversity and the elements that influence attitudes and behavior towards foreign-origin populations.
