Abstract
Does a publication bias in the reporting of research results really exist? And where does it come from? What methods can we use to build typologies? And how can we improve applications of Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA)? The panel will address these questions by pursuing two aims: It will analyze the claim of a publication bias by examining publication patterns, providing different explanations and suggesting remedies. It will present, apply and criticize new advances in research methods such as QCA or cluster analysis, and introduce alternative strategies such as Configural Frequency Analysis or employing family resemblance to define descriptive heterogeneity.
