Since the outbreak of the Syrian uprising in March 2011, Syrians in Sweden (and elsewhere) have mobilized to a degree previously unseen. For the first time they have also mobilized as Syrians (i e across ethnic and religious divides). The aim of the paper is to explore what Syrian mobilization has led to both in terms of networks in Sweden but also in what different ways transnational mobilization has allowed Syrians in Sweden to participate in and influence developments in Syria. Finally, it seeks to explore the responses of the regime to the activities of Syrian activists in Sweden.
