The University of Magdeburg in Saxony-Anhalt, an Eastern German Land, is a relatively new institution, founded in the 1990s. The Institute of Political Science forms part of the Faculty of the Humanities with some 3,000 students. In teaching, the Institute of Political Science, together with the Institute of Sociology, runs BA and MA courses on social sciences. In addition, there are interdisciplinary study programmes on European Studies and Peace and Conflict Studies. Prominent research areas of the Institute are European integration, party politics, federalism and regionalism, human rights, peace and conflict studies.

The Marburg Institute for Political Science is among the oldest and largest institutes of its kind in Germany with 11 tenured chairs. Its faculty covers all traditional sub-disciplines of political science, as well as Gender Studies, Politics of the Near and Middle East, and Conflict Studies. Residing in a newly renovated, early 19th century brick-stone building, the institute offers Bachelor and M.A. degrees in Political Science, and participates in a large variety of interdisciplinary programs and international networks. The Faculty of International Relations (FIR) is one of the largest faculties at the Prague University of Economics and Business. There are two main directions in both teaching and research: International Business and International Politics and Diplomacy. Other programs, focusing on Business and Law, International Politics and Diplomacy or Tourism also play an inevitable role. The key distinctive feature of FIR is high level of internationalization at all stages with strong emphasis on language knowledge of students. The mission of the Faculty of International Relations is to develop education and knowledge in the field of international economic and political relations and to provide internationally recognized study programs based on critical thinking and openness, personal and societal responsibility and commitment to lifelong learning. Vision of the Faculty of International Relations – it is the best education and research institution in the field of international economic and political relations in the Czech Republic and through its strategy of internalization and internationally verified process of quality assurance and enhancement it is an internationally recognized institution, which belongs among top three best ranked schools within the region of Central and Eastern Europe. Graduates of both the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes find jobs in business, particularly in multinational corporations that greatly appreciate their exceptionally high standard of both language skills and economic and managerial skills. Graduates’ proficiency is given by interdisciplinary nature of the instruction provided by UEP. A large number of the Faculty’s Bachelors and Masters can take advantage of opportunities to study abroad. Since the early nineties the Faculty has been practicing a credit-based system of study, and it has developed and put in place the necessary mechanism for enabling the exchange of students’ transfer and accumulation of credits as provided for by ECTS (the European Credit Transfer System). With the exception of some postgraduate programmes, summer universities and the life-long education programmes, the course of study at the UEP is free of charge.

With this in mind, and to continue to lead the FCT's ranking with the classification of EXCELLENT, it has centralised two of the best R&D units in Portugal in this scientific field for the common use of resources and human capital, working closely in political science sub-fields. Coincidentally, these two units belong to the University of Minho. This institution aims to be the best in the field of social sciences and humanities. The merged CICP units will make every effort to carry out their mission in line with a five-year strategic programme, from 2015 to 2020 (NEAPP and NICPRI merged in 2015, as part of the strategic plan for these individual units).
