In 2024, nearly half of our 67 groups hosted events of all sizes, from online seminars and specialist workshops to schools and major conferences hosting up to 600 participants.
Want to organise an event for your group? Contact our Community Engagement Team to get started!
The events of our Standing Groups and Research Networks are at the heart of ECPR's activities, supporting a globally connected community and driving excellence in research, publishing, and teaching. Steering Committees spearhead these initiatives, either organising the events directly or collaborating with local hosts to create high-quality, engaging programmes.
Many groups also celebrate their members' achievements with prizes for outstanding papers, blogs, and other contributions, showcasing the depth and breadth of research across all subfields of political science and beyond.
Each group receives tailored support from ECPR's Community Engagement and Events Teams who help nurture the events from concept to execution. After submitting an initial brief, the groups work with the Events team to curate the event using the ECPR platform. The Marketing team drives event visibility online, reaching thousands of scholars and attracting top-tier participants.
Groups can apply to use ECPR's Headquarters, Harbour House in Colchester, for any of their events. Find out more.

This year, nineteen Groups and Networks offered free, accessible platforms for learning and discussion. These included inaugural seminars by the Young ECPR Network on Europeanisation (YEN), and the Standing Groups on Teaching and Learning Politics, Critical Peace and Conflict Studies, and Energy Politics, Policy and Governance.
Many groups chose to award prizes to recognise stand-out contributions from either Paper presenters or Summer School participants. ECPR supports these with a trophy, certificate, and publicity opportunities. Congratulations to all 2024 winners!
Groups and networks also play an important role in driving the ECPR core prizes portfolio by appointing representatives to the juries for the following prestigious awards:
There are already plenty of events in the pipeline for 2025 and beyond – including seminars, workshops, and schools. We are also excited to see the return of the Biennial Conferences of the Standing Groups on Regulatory Governance and Parliaments, along with a new conference from the Standing Group on Extremism and Democracy.
