Tanja Munro, Director of ECPR, has been named 'Digital Transformation Leader of the Year' at the International and European Association Leadership Awards 2026.
We are delighted to celebrate Tanja Munro's achievement, announced at the Association of Association Executives World Congress 2026, which took place at the Tivoli Carvoeiro Algarve Resort from 7 – 9 June.
The award highlights an individual's contribution to the success of their organisation and service to its members. Tanja received the award in recognition of her leadership in 'modernising a great institution while putting its people first'.
For ECPR, this recognition reflects recent work to strengthen digital services, events, and the overall experience for our members and the broader political science community.
Tanja has led organisations, developed strategic partnerships, and driven organisational growth by bringing people and ideas together. Holding an MA in International Relations from the University of Essex, she is passionate about strengthening the sector and ensuring it continues to thrive.
This award goes to a leader who modernised one of Europe's largest learned societies, which connects more than fifty thousand experts across three hundred and thirty institutions worldwide. Under her leadership she has driven it through a major digital transformation, with new digital services and wider academic outreach strengthening both its finances and its reach. Her style pairs clear strategic vision with people-centred management. She has grown a culture of innovation and steady development.
She brings together institutions, funders, policymakers, supporters and staff into networks built to last. For modernising a great institution while putting its people first, this award goes to Tanja Munro.
