This €1,000 annual prize, named after the eminent French comparativist Jean Blondel (pictured), is awarded for the best PhD thesis in politics (broadly conceived to include international relations, political theory and public administration) nominated by an ECPR Full Member institution.
The prize will be presented at our 2019 Joint Sessions in Mons, which runs from 23–27 April.

Awarded in conjunction with the International Social Science Council (ISSC) and the University of Bergen, this annual $5,000 prize is named in honour of Norwegian political scientist and ECPR co-founder Stein Rokkan (1921–1979, pictured).
The prize is open to works in comparative studies from all social science disciplines. It is given to a submission that is deemed by our Jury to be a substantial and original contribution to comparative social science research.

This €2,000 annual prize is named for the Australian political scientist Hedley Bull (1932–1985) whose book The Anarchical Society has become a key IR text.
The prize is awarded to the author of a book considered by our Jury to have made a substantial and original contribution to theory and/or empirical studies in any field of international relations. The award will be presented at our 2018 General Conference in Hamburg, which runs 22–25 August.
