Populism has been the most striking political development in European politics of the past decade, in the distinctive difference of populist parties to the mainstream parties which dominated European party systems until now, and in their putative mission effectively to remove establishment elites and overturn the policies and practices associated with them.
This Panel aims to explore the phenomenon in Europe, asking where we might be witnessing a reshaping of the post-war political order.
The 115th American Political Science Association’s Annual Meeting & Exhibition takes place 29 August – 1 September 2019 in Washington DC. The event will address the latest scholarship in political science while exploring the 2019 theme, Populism and Privilege.
