About

Emellin is a qualified Lawyer, a Researcher at the Research & Development Centre on Law and Society (CEDIS) and a PhD Candidate at NOVA School of Law, whose research aims to analyse how security concerns shape Migration Law in the European Union. She is a member of the International Migration and International Law Committee of the International Law Association, representing the Portuguese Society of International Law. She is also part of the MoveS network, as a national expert (Portugal) in intra-EU mobility. And, since February 2022, she is on the European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA, formerly EASO) List of Experts on asylum. Also, she is the Co-Founder of NOVA Refugee Clinic - Legal Clinic, a Consultant of the Asylum Policy Lab (NOVA FCSH), and she co-coordinates the short courses at JURISNOVA/NOVA School of Law on “Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Law”; “Human rights protection systems in perspective: the European, African and Inter-American systems”; and “Women’s Rights and Gender Equality”.
