About

I'm a PhD student at Sciences Po Paris in France. I was previously a visiting scholar at Johns Hopkins University (Humanities Center). I graduated in philosophy from Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENS ulm) and the Free University of Brussels (ULB). I also have a master degree in political science from Sciences Po. I seek to show that, despite the difficulties we face when defining conservatism, it is nevertheless a relevant category of interpretation in the history of ideas. But, in opposition to attemps to establish a conservative tradition, I emphasize the differences between conservative thinkers (Aron, Oakeshott, Strauss) in order to identify the common intention that underlies their philosophies: the refusal to extend modern rationality, as manifested in positivism or historicism, to the political.
