About the Host

[Why we hold events at member institutions; how grateful we are to the host; a note about previous events they might have hosted/how long they have been members.

Geographical details of the institution - city/campus, proximity to the city, details of any split locations with full addresses for all

Facilities at the institution - for both academic and plenary programme; food and drink; ATMs]

ECPR holds all events at member institutions, making all our conferences and events unique. It allows participants to visit an academic institution they might not have considered, benefitting the host institution and the town/city in which it is held by way of tourism income. Without an institutional host and their local organising team we would be unable to organise such an event as we currently do, and keep the costs down to a manageable level. The hosts experience and knowledge of their campus and local area is paramount in the organisation of the event, and their civic ties enables them to showcase their institution and the host city/town more generally. Our hosts for 2018, Hamburg Universität, have been members of the ECPR for 25 years, and this is the first ECPR event they have hosted. Together with the Universität Hamburg Marketing office, they have organised many other events over the years, including XXXXX (have asked UHM to send list of last 5 events).

Asked Kai to provide A short piece from the head of the local organising team explaining why they wanted to host the event, what it means for the university, local area, themselves personally.

Waterkant Touren - explore the southern part of the Hamburg in retro VW buses

Travel and health insurance

We highly recommended organising travel and/or health insurance prior to travelling.

Citizens of the EEA (European Economic Area) and Switzerland can apply for a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) which allows access to state-provided healthcare at a reduced cost, or sometimes for free. EHIC does not cover private medical health costs and is therefore not an alternative to travel insurance.

Visa information

Visas are the responsibility of the individual. Depending on the purpose of travel and your country of origin, different types of visas will apply. Enquire well in advance about entry regulations by consulting the nearest German embassy or consulate, or a HWF office in your home country. Find out more. Visa letters will only be supplied once we have received your registration fee in full. ECPR cannot offer any further advice on visas.
