Dirk Berg-Schlosser Award

This prize is given to the originators of the three best info-graphic posters at our annual Summer Methods School. The award recognises the instrumental role of eminent political scientist Dirk Berg-Schlosser in bringing our Methods School to life.

Creating a poster is an ideal opportunity to present your work-in-progress in a concise, accessible, visually appealing format, and to receive feedback from fellow participants, Teaching Assistants and Instructors. Typically, the work would form part of your PhD research, but it could also be an ongoing applied research project or similar.

We will exhibit all submitted posters from Monday 31 July until the end of Summer School. You can choose how much relative emphasis to place on substantive, theoretical and methodological issues, but please note the instructions below:

  • Email your poster as a pdf to methodsschool@ecpr.eu by 15:00 GMT on Thursday 20 July.
  • Your poster will be printed A1, 59.4 x 84.1cm. Please create your poster to these dimensions, or at least to these proportions. Use only hi-res imagery to ensure pictures do not print fuzzy. Read some helpful information about print resolution. We will display your poster from Monday 31 July until the last day of the Summer School and feature it on this webpage.
  • Your poster can be portrait or landscape orientation.
  • Only posters submitted by paid participants of the Summer School, in time and in the correct format will be considered.
  • Posters will be judged by a jury of Summer School teaching staff and the winners will be announced during the Welcome session on Sunday 6 August at 18:00.
  • Ideally, you will be present at the Welcome Reception, but you do not need to make a presentation or attach any article in relation to your poster; it should be self-explanatory.
  • You may take your poster home at the end of the Summer School.

Prizes will be given to the best three posters, as chosen by our jury of Methods School teaching staff.

  • First prize €250
  • Second prize €150
  • Third prize €100
