Further information
The Academic Programme will be organised in the format of Workshops with Papers. Each Workshop will contain Papers selected by the Workshop's Directors. The programme will be very broad, with Workshops covering all the main areas of political science, including comparative politics, public policy and public administration, political theory, international relations and European studies.
There is a two-stage process for submitting proposals to the Academic Programme:
Call for Workshops 2 October 2017 – 1 February 2018 (midnight UK time)
Call for Papers 1 August 2018 – 3 December 2018 (midnight UK time)
To find out how to submit Workshop and Paper proposals, see How to Participate.
Anyone from a Full ECPR member institution may organise a Workshop as long as they haven't directed a Workshop in the two years previous. Co‑Directors may come from Full or Associate member institutions. Check your institution's membership status.
All proposals to organise Workshops must be in English, and submitted using ECPR's online form.
Before submitting the proposal, please note:
Academic Convenors and Workshop Evaluators use the following criteria to evaluate Workshop proposals:
All Workshop proposals must be submitted online by 1 February 2018. The Academic Convenors should accept or decline proposed Workshops no later than the end of April 2018.
ECPR will notify proposers of the outcome of their Workshop proposal in early May 2018. If you have not received notification by the end of May 2018, contact the Events Team.
This is open to anyone wishing to propose a Paper. Paper proposers need not belong to an ECPR member institution, but they must have a MyECPR profile. Only two Papers from scholars at non-member institutions will be accepted in each Workshop.
Find out more about the Paper submission process at How to Participate.
The deadline to submit Paper proposals is 3 December 2018 (midnight UK time).
From 1 August 2018, Workshop Directors can view Papers being proposed to their Workshop via their MyECPR account. From 4 December 2018 Workshop Directors can review these proposals and will begin to approve / decline / reserve Papers. Workshop Directors have until 14 January 2019 to finalise the Papers in their Workshops via MyECPR.
On 15 January 2019 Paper presenters will be emailed with the Workshop Directors' decision. If your Paper has been marked as reserved, ECPR will contact you if a space becomes available in the programme.
The Academic Programme will appear on this website in early February 2019. A full Workshop schedule will be sent by the Workshop's Directors ahead of the event.
To ensure inclusion in the printed programme, amendments to Paper information (change of co-author, title etc) must be emailed to the Events Team by 18 February 2019.
Online registration opens on 15 January 2019. Further details, including registration fees, will appear on the ECPR website in due course. Participants attending and appearing in any capacity in the Academic Programme must register and pay before midnight UK time on 31 January 2019. Registration and payment takes place through MyECPR. Anyone who has not registered and paid by 31 January will be withdrawn from their Workshop.
To receive a print copy of the programme, tick the box in the online registration form.
Approved Papers can be uploaded to the ECPR website via the Presenter's MyECPR profile, from 4 December 2018. Only the person listed as Presenter can do this. Papers should be in PDF file format, in English. Please upload or circulate your Paper to fellow Workshop attendees by 2 April 2019 so they have time to prepare comments and questions.
Uploading your Paper via MyECPR constitutes agreement for ECPR to publish the Paper on this website.
Schedules are determined by the Workshop's Directors but all start on Tuesday 9 April at 09:00 and conclude on Friday 12 April at 17:00. Please ensure your availability for THE WHOLE WORKSHOP.
Visas are the responsibility of the individual. Depending on the purpose of travel and your country of origin, different types of visas will apply. Enquire well in advance about entry regulations at the embassy or consulate in your home country. Visa letters will be supplied only when we have received your registration fee in full, and after the 7-day cooling off period. ECPR cannot offer any further advice on visas.
