Dismembering Organised Crime: Identifying, Analysing and Countering

Organised crime connects and infiltrates all aspects of our world, often without us even realising it. It devastates lives, neighbourhoods, and local economies – and distorts political life. Though not uniquely a feature of poverty, it is a familiar characteristic of life in the 21^st century.

The focus of this conference is the different manifestations of modern-day organised crime, and the ways we diagnose, analyse, and examine them.

We invite international researchers, practitioners, NGOs thinktanks and policy-makers to collectively dismember organised crime at its different levels, disciplines and countries.

We encourage the presentation of cutting-edge empirical research which intersects different disciplines and topics, and discussion about the most effective and efficient methodologies that can be used to combat organised crime.

The conference welcomes Papers from academic researchers at all stages of their career, as well as from practitioners and policy makers.

All abstracts must be in English, contain a clear outline of your argument, and, where applicable, methodology and results.

Tuesday Reitano, Deputy Director at the Global Initative against Transnational Organized Crime and a Senior Research Advisor at the Institute for Security Studies in Pretoria.

Francesco Strazzari of NUPI's Consortium for Research on Terrorism and International Crime in 2013 and Associate Professor of International Relations at the Pisa-based Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies.
