When driving into Oslo you will pass one or more toll plazas. Charges are applicable every time you drive into the city. You do not pay to drive out of the city. More on toll charges and payment here.

NSB, the Norwegian State Railway, operates most passenger train services in Norway, and has a well developed network. Approximate travel times:

Bergen → Oslo: 7 hours
Stockholm → Oslo: 4.5–5 hours
Gothenburg → Oslo: 4 hours
Oslo airport → Oslo: 20 minutes

Oslo Lufthavn is Norway’s largest airport, located at Gardermoen, 47km northeast of the city centre. It offers direct routes from many European cities.

Torp Sandeford airport is 10km southwest of Oslo, and served by many of the low-cost airlines.

  • Train
    A shuttle bus takes you from the airport to Torp rail station, from where you can pick up the Norwegian State Railway to Oslo city centre. Journey time is around 1 hour 45 minutes.

  • Bus 
    The Torp Express takes around two hours. 

Getting around 

Oslo public transport is run by Ruter AS. Use Ruter tickets on metro, trams, buses and ferries, and on NSB trains in Oslo and Akershus. More information, including ticket prices and maps, here. Alternatively, search for 'RuterReise' (journeys) or 'RuterBillett' (tickets) in the App Store or on Google Play.

Note: You cannot buy on-board tickets, so remember to buy before boarding.

City bikes – Oslo Bysykkel

Visas

Visas are the responsibility of the individual. Depending on the purpose of your travel to Norway, different types of visas will apply. In 2001, Norway, as an EFTA Member, also became a member of the Schengen Area. Find more on visa requirements here. Visa letters will only be supplied once we have received your registration fee in full. ECPR cannot offer any further advice on visas.
