Our Standing Group on Citizenship is thrilled to present its Early Careers Lounge – a series of FREE virtual meet-ups for PhD students and early career scholars interested in citizenship, civic education, political participation, migration and related topics.
The series aims to create an inspiring space for regular sessions that enable researchers in the field to chat and exchange ideas in an informal and supportive environment.
The forthcoming session will feature two fantastic speakers who will provide a brief insight into their current research, followed by a Q&A session.
You will then be invited to join the breakout rooms. The theme of the breakout rooms for this session will be research/PhD-related issues and the Joint Sessions 2023.
You will have the chance to talk through an issue you are currently facing and get feedback and support from fellow attendees. Those working on proposals for the Joint Sessions 2023 can brainstorm together.
If you are thinking of proposing a Paper or Panel for the General Conference 2023, you will also have the opportunity to receive guidance from Nora Siklodi, Steering Committee Chair for the Standing Group on Citizenship.
Anna Lukešová is a PhD Candidate at Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Sciences, Institute of International Studies, where she graduated from West-European Studies and now continues with Area Studies PhD programme while focusing on migration-related topics. In her PhD thesis, she examines civic integration policies implemented in Czechia and Austria, comparing these two cases through the multi-level governance framework.
At the Institute, she further teaches Bachelor students on migration and immigrant integration in Western Europe and Master students on the EU migration policies.
Ahmed Kaharevic is a PhD candidate at Linköping University. His research studies how digitalization changes the relationship between people, politics, and society. His dissertation is focused on participation and digital inclusion in marginalized Swedish suburbs.
The Standing Group on Citizenship investigates citizenship and its personal, cultural, social, economic and political implications through interdisciplinary research from multiple theoretical perspectives. It addresses how citizenship continues to formulate relations between polities and individuals through rights, duties, participation and identities.
In the context of increased diversity, less participation and growing political distrust, the Standing Group also explores and researches how schools prepare citizens for their civic life in citizenship education.
The event is FREE and open to PhD students and early career scholars interested in research addressing the various branches of citizenship.
Registration is required but you will only need to register once for the entire series.
You will need a My ECPR account to register. Don't yet have one? You can create it here, even if you are not affiliated with an ECPR Member institution.
