To support and inspire early career scholars in politics, gender and sexuality, our Standing Group on Gender and Politics is delighted to offer an Early Career Scholars Programme as part of its 2024 flagship Conference in Ghent.
The programme comprises two events scheduled during the morning of the first conference day:
Alongside these, the Standing Group will also host Speed Mentoring Sessions online from 17 June to 5 July.
Recognising the widespread impact of discrimination based on gender, race and ethnicity, migration background, religion and belief, health status and/or disability, sexual orientation and gender identity and expression, and class. Along with their intersections, this workshop aims to foster a collaborative space for participants to collectively confront challenges.
This workshop aims to cultivate a sense of community by openly sharing the intricate challenges and barriers inherent in academia's structures, often experienced by individuals in isolation as personal problems or unavoidable injustices. The participants will also have the opportunity to exchange individual and collective strategies for navigating and confronting structural inequalities.
The workshop endeavours to shape a transformative agenda and cultivate enduring connections among participants, thus laying the groundwork for collective action that brings about meaningful change. We invite you to join us in this initiative actively contributing to the advancement of a more inclusive and equitable academia.
The deadline for applications is now closed.
Registration is open to all. In case numbers exceed the room capacity, priority will be given to Early Career Scholars from minorities and disadvantaged groups, including those belonging to non-Western universities and other groups often marginalised within the discipline.
Publishing is a cornerstone of academic advancement, allowing researchers to share their work with the wider scholarly community. In this workshop, co-lead editors of the European Journal of Politics and Gender (EJPG), Jennifer Piscopo (Royal Holloway University of London) and Phillip Ayoub (University College London), will share their insights as accomplished researchers and journal editors.
