Social Activities

To coincide with the Conference, the Standing Group has organised a series of social activities as part of the ECPG conference program. Each activity is designed to highlight some of the unique features of the beautiful city of Ghent and its history. To ensure an enjoyable experience for all participants, registration for these activities is mandatory. As spaces are limited, we operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Please register your interest before 10 June 2024.

Embark on a unique journey through art and history and join us for an LGBTQ+ guided tour at Ghent’s Museum of Fine Arts (MSK).

The MSK is the first in Belgium to launch an LGBTQ+ tour through its permanent galleries. Curated by members of the LGBTQ+ community, this tour invites visitors to explore the queer history that literally hangs on the museum’s walls but has never been told before. This tour offers an opportunity to discover these hidden stories through 11 selected artworks, each engaging in a conversation about how gender identity and sexual orientation were approached in the past, and offering a reflection on how we look at them today.

Sessions (maximum 30 participants per session):

  • Sunday 7 July, 13:30 - 15:00 CET SOLD OUT
  • Tuesday 9 July, 11:00 - 12:30 CET SOLD OUT
  • Wednesday 10 July, 11:00 - 12:30 CET SOLD OUT
