The Summer School on Political Parties is hosted by the University of Duisburg-Essen's NRW School of Governance, in cooperation with the Institute for Political Science and the Department of Social Sciences. The Summer School sessions will be held at the University's Duisburg campus (Building LS):

The NRW School of Governance is a professional school at the University of Duisburg-Essen's Institute for Political Science. It specialises in transdisciplinary research in Modern Governance & Public Policy, Political Parties & Participation, Digital Innovations & Political Communication, and Elections & Voters.
The School serves as a knowledge transfer hub of the Institute, offering a fully accredited Public Policy higher education programme. It also provides academic services for the fully accredited Master of Political Management, Public Policy and Administration.
The Department of Social Sciences at the University is one of the largest in Germany, boasting over 3,000 students.
The Institute for Political Science hosts a large group of scholars devoted to the study of political parties in Germany, Europe and globally, who utilise a range of methodological approaches. As part of the University Alliance Ruhr, the University has close ties with other institutions renowned for party research, such as the Düsseldorf Party Research Institute, PRuF and the University of Cologne.
Situated in the district of Duisburg-Neudorf, the NRW School of Governance is within a 20-minute walk from the city centre. You can reach the campus with a rental bike or use public transport – the University benefits from excellent transport connections.
From Duisburg's main station, exit at the Osteingang/Neudorf stop. Within approximately 10 minutes, you can reach campus by bus lines 924 (direction Duisburg Sportpark), 926 (direction Uni-Nord) and 933 (direction Uni-Nord) at the bus stop Duisburg Universität. From here it is about 300m to the university Building LS.
The following regional express trains leave from the long-distance train station at Düsseldorf Airport to Duisburg Hauptbahnhof: RE 1,3, 5, 6 and 11.
Coming from the A3 or A40, take the exit for Kaiserberg and follow the signs Universität until you cross Lotharstraße. Turn right at the intersection of Lotharstraße/Carl-Benz-Straße. After a few meters, you will see the university Building LS on your right.

Duisburg offers attractions that are certainly worth visiting – and many of them are very close to the campus!
Tiger and Turtle Magic Mountain is a landmark on the Heinrich-Hildebrand-Höhe in the Angerpark in Duisburg-Angerhausen that is modelled on a roller coaster. The large sculpture is a work of art by Heike Mutter and Ulrich Genth, which was developed as part of the Ruhr.2010 Capital of Culture.
Located in the heart of Duisburg, the Lehmbruck Museum is a museum of sculpture. Its collection of modern sculptures by artists such as Alberto Giacometti, Constantin Brâncuși, Hans Arp and, of course, Wilhelm Lehmbruck is unique in Europe. The museum is housed in an impressive museum building in the middle of a sculpture park that invites visitors to stroll and discover.
Not far from the campus is the Duisburg Zoo, which gained worldwide fame for its dolphinarium. You won't find cute koalas, cosy wombats, and lively dolphins at any other zoo in North Rhine-Westphalia. Approximately 10 minutes on foot from campus.
