Venue and Location

All rooms have access to a projector with an HDMI/USBC connection. Please note that laptops will not be provided; you must bring your own device, along with the appropriate charger and EU adaptors.

Getting to Innsbruck

If you can, please consider travelling to Innsbruck by train.

When arranging travel and accommodation, please ensure that your booking is refundable. It is your responsibility to arrange appropriate travel insurance. ECPR is not liable for reimbursing the cost of travel or accommodation made by participants.

By rail

Innsbruck railway station is accessible from all four cardinal points:

  • North - from Frankfurt and Munich
  • South - from Milan, Verona or Rome
  • East - from Vienna and Salzburg
  • West - from Zurich and Geneva

There are hourly direct connections from Vienna Airport (via Vienna Central Station). There are also direct connections every two hours from Zurich, Munich, and Verona.

By air

Innsbruck Airport (INN) is located within a ten-minute drive from the city centre. The next larger hub is Munich Airport (MUC).

There is a direct IVB bus – Line F – from the airport to the city centre and train station every 15 minutes.

By bus

International providers such as Flixbus and others stop at the Innsbruck Railway Station. The station is located 900 metres away from the event location and 1.2 km from the city centre.

By car

The motorway A12 (E45, E60) crosses Innsbruck, which links the city to Germany, Italy and Switzerland.

From the south and west

Take the exit Innsbruck-West and arrive at Kaiserjägerstraße 1/ SOWI parking lot (via Egger-Lienz-Straße - Innerkofler-Straße - Innrain - Herrengasse - Universitätsstraße).

From the east

Take the exit Innsbruck-Ost and arrive at Kaiserjägerstraße 1/ SOWI parking lot (via Amraser Straße - Museumstraße - Sillgasse).

Getting Around

Public transport

Innsbrucker Verkehrbetriebe (IVB) is the public transport provider for Innsbruck and connects the city centre, the SOWI Campus and the railway station within a 4-minute ride.

The journey by public transport from the airport to the city centre takes approximately 12 to 15 minutes. Tram or bus tickets start from €2.80.

Airport transfers

You may wish to organise a direct transfer to or from Munich airport.

Bike rental

Numerous rental bike stations around Innsbruck give you the flexibility to reach your accommodation, the university or the train station with ease. Cinemas, restaurants and swimming pools are also within easy reach. For ultimate mobility in the city, combine the city bikes and bus & train for your trips.

Visas

Visitors who do not qualify for visa-free entry to Austria must obtain a visa before travelling. If you need a visa for a stay of up to 90 days, you must apply for a Schengen (short-term) visa.

Important information

  • Visas are not available at border crossings or Innsbruck Airport. If you require a visa and arrive without one, you will be refused entry to Austria.
  • Travellers with a visa must register with the police within three working days of arrival.

Visa requirements and related rules may be subject to change. If you are in doubt, contact the Austrian embassy in your country and apply for your visa as soon as possible.

ECPR can supply a visa invitation letter on request only after receiving the full registration fee, and after the 14-day cooling-off period has passed. ECPR cannot offer any additional guidance on visas.
