Abstract

In contrast to much of the previous research on trends in party membership has focused on national-level politics, the papers in this panel look below the overall numbers. Using a variety of methodological approaches and data types, they take a disaggregated view of what is driving changes in how political parties in Latin America and Western Europe use their voluntary organisations to motivate political participation.
