Energy transition has been high on the political agenda globally as well as in numerous national and regional contexts. In parallel, many party systems have witnessed a dramatic transformation marked by the decline and/or repositioning of traditional parties and the increasing influence of small niche parties across the ideological spectrum. The socio-economic structure of societies has been undergoing a dynamic change too. As energy transitions continue to affect the distribution of political and economic goods, their nature and speed will largely depend on voters´ preferences and the ability and willingness of parties to mobilize the political support or resistance towards different energy transition measures. The panel addresses this broader theme by looking at voters´ attitudes towards different energy transition issues and how parties position on and exercise influence over energy transition policies.
