Abstract

The panel aims to investigate the role of historical memory in the conflict and post-conflict con-texts in Ukraine and the Russian North Caucasus region and beyond. It examines the use of histori-cal memory as a cognitive resource in radicalisation and as an instrument of structural violence by a variety of actors with a focus on the role of civil society actors. It also reflects on the impact of changing geopolitical and political contexts on the nature of contention.
