Abstract

Cities are complex constellations of social, political, environmental, economic and digital developments, which are governed through policy-making across multiple sectors and levels of governance. A range of innovative approaches and policy frameworks have emerged in this context, including community self-organisation, cross-sector collaboration, and smart cities. The aim of this panel is to explore how cities change and are being transformed through urban policy and innovations. The papers critically analyse and compare how urban policies harness complexity, seek to enhance socio-ecological resilience and facilitate co-production between local authorities, citizens, the voluntary sector and business.
