Approaches to and levels of environmental action and activism vary notably across countries. On the one hand, comparative analysis of these variations can inform improvements of approaches and help policymakers to learn from each other. On the other hand, most environmental problems, and in particular climate change, transcend national boundaries. Hence, they require multinational action of countries worldwide. This panel unites contributions which together give a comparative analysis of environmental policy, politics, and activism in various countries and cultures. The aim is to review and critically discuss current developments, (best-)practices, and problems occurring due to complex relationships and cross-pressures, especially when it comes to South-North dependencies.
