Abstract

It is time to promote leadership studies up to date to catch up with the new developments in the fields of political theory, political behaviour or political culture. New challenges to democratic systems and the emergence of new forms of authoritarianism inspire re-evaluation of traditional approaches to leadership and ask for new approaches to it. In this section we would like to invite papers which look at contemporary politics in domestic and international arena through the prism of the role of leadership. New times, new types of political systems, new lines of conflict, new relations between political elites and social groups, new interpretations of values make new demands on leadership. We invite scholars who study communication patterns, electoral politics, leadership succession, leadership consolidation, policy making, policy implementation, policy legitimization in search for new approaches to the study of leadership in the 21st century.
