Abstract

This panel focuses on judicial politics within and beyond Europe. Focusing on the Court of Justice of the EU as well as domestic courts in the Netherlands and Brazil, the papers probe the techniques judges use to maximize efficiency and shape judicial decisions; how domestic and supranational judges cooperate to shape social policy; and the conditions under which courts can empower themselves by regulating the mandates of legislators.
