Contemporary issues to study from a political sociology perspective are plenty: the rise of populism, the cascade of social, economic, and political crises, and the digital transformation of the public sphere are only a three of the mega trends that concern our discipline. In this panel, we bring together papers that look at these challenges while at the same time speaking to political sociology in general: how are colleagues in academia dealing with politics, what are the socio-cultural foundations of post-truth politics, where are the breeding grounds of populism, and finally: what is the relationship of political sociology and crisis? These are only some of the questions we aim to discuss based on the paper presentations included in this panel.
