Abstract

This panel offers methodological insights into gender representation within parliamentary contexts, drawing upon innovative quantitative text analysis techniques across diverse European landscapes. These studies delve into such significant topics as gender-conscious language usage, speech dynamics and gendered interactions in legislative processes, ideological divisions and feminist agendas. More specifically, the contributions to this panel: - uncover linguistic strategies, patterns of interaction, and speech styles across different gendered contexts in parliamentary discourse, - analyse the complexities surrounding feminist agendas, ideological alliances, and power dynamics, - examine how gender, experience, and ideological positioning shape certainty levels in political rhetoric. Collectively, these studies reveal the intersection of gender, language, and power dynamics within legislative settings, showcasing the potential of quantitative text analysis in enriching our understanding of gender representation in European parliaments.
