Implementation of EU Policies

Abstract

Over the past decade, research on the implementation of EU policies has moved away from the initial focus on compliance and transposition to studies that examine practical as well as legal implementation and link implementation processes to issues of effectiveness and legitimacy. This has also put the spotlight on actors beyond the Commission and national governments, and how they interact in the implementation of EU policies. This panel brings together a set of papers that analyse the roles of and interactions between actors at various levels in the EU’s multilevel system in the implementation of EU policies.
