Abstract

What happens to gender (in)equity when public policies are implemented? How is the discretionary power of street-level bureaucrats used? How are public policies justified by those charged with implementing them? Does local politics, "close to home," have a potential for gender transformation? This panel focuses on the local level of politics and policy to question its dynamics and potential for gender transformation.
