Abstract

This panel seeks to enrich our understanding of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) by bringing together diverse perspectives that illuminate the court's decision-making and its impact on national politics. The presentations will scrutinize the CJEU's jurisprudence and its influence on national law as well as the strategic use of it during legislative negotiations. Additionally, the panel will explore the role of court presidents and the influence of government representatives before the court. By considering the perspectives of judges as well as the different stakeholders, including national policy-makers and interest groups, this panel aims to offer nuanced insights into the complex dynamics surrounding the CJEU and its role within the European Union.
