Abstract

Increased international migration has challenged the democratic dimension of political inclusion, thus incorporating both non-citizen and non-resident populations into the demos. As a result, scholars have paid increasing attention to the processes of migrant enfranchisement and migrants’ political participation. This panel brings together theoretical and empirical papers that focus on the latent and manifest modes of migrants’ political participation either at their residence and/or origin countries, as well as on the transnational engagement of political parties and migrant organisations.
