Abstract

Since the late 1990s, migration has become one of the most debated and politicized issues in Europe. The salience of migration and the polarisation around the issue at political and societal levels are high. This panel delves into the different facets of the politicisation of migration, paying attention to political parties’ framing, the media discourse around this issue, and public attitudes towards the inclusion of immigrants into the demos. Papers that focus on the process of naturalization and immigration are also included. This panel compares different social, economic and political factors on attitudes and discourses around the migration issue.
