Abstract

This panel explores institutional politics and institutional challenges in southern European democracies. It examines why proposals for electoral reform are proposed and why they fail, and whether technocratic governments are anti-democratic or a mechanism for revitalizing democratic discourse. It also delves into parliamentary party switching, including the role of gender and policy positions as explanatory variables
