Abstract

This panel delves into the interplay between affective polarization and perceptions of outgroups. By focusing on the ways in which personal networks, perceptions of understanding, and group identity assessments relate to affective polarization, the papers show how stereotypes not only reflect but also exacerbate affective polarization, leading to deeper societal divides.
