Abstract

Parties face numerous challenges balancing the competing interests within their organizations and the external perception by the electorate or other ‘players of the political game’. This panel explores several tensions within party organizations linked to incentives for particular party branches, the role of party brokers, personalization, the role of party members and broader questions of representation.
