Beyond Liberal Democracy

Abstract

Whilst many scholars who inhabit, or otherwise contribute to, the field of democratic theory are keenly aware that liberal democracy is but one form of democracy - and one with a rather recent history - most others are not aware of this fact. It is, instead, common to see the term "democracy" conflated with its variant "liberal democracy". From investigations into semantics, empirics, ontology, and methodology, this panel has been curated to demonstrate what research into non or post-liberal democracy looks like.
