Abstract

The purpose of this panel is to examine the influence of globalization (economic, political and cultural) on religious and secular politics. Looking at different case studies and/or comparative studies this panel will focus on the following questions: What new opportunities does globalization create for secular parties and political activists? How does global investment and consumer culture affect existing church-state arrangements? How do religious parties, institutions and organizations react to globalization? and, does globalization indicate a secular era or the ressurgence of religion?,
