Abstract

This panel includes research papers that examine how citizens’ assemblies (CAs) and other democratic innovations are perceived and promoted by political elites. While democratic innovations like CAs are designed to foster public trust, legitimacy, and civic engagement, their broader influence on such institutional actors remains relatively underexplored. This section analyses political attitudes and agenda-setting, and also comparatively discusses the preferences of politicians and citizens.
