Civil Society Organisations in Europe: Organisational Characteristics and Organisational Change

157

Abstract

The past few decades have seen political systems sailing through turbulent environments altering the composition and structure of the policy arena in which civil society organizations are operating. New environmental demands arise from processes of Europeanization and internationalization of governance activities as well as from transformations in the market structure such as growing competition and intensified international trade. Both processes are assumed to have a substantial impact on the organization, strategies and activities of civil society organizations. Papers are invited to approach the panel theme from a wide range of theoretical perspectives including not only approaches of interest intermediation (pluralism, neo-corporatism, etc.) but also organization theories, policy networks approaches, and neo-institutionalism to name but a few. Particularly welcome are cross-national comparisons and cross-sectoral comparative studies.
