This panel brings together papers that explore and interrogate digital and aesthetic spaces of memory, justice, and truths. Drawing on empirical research from Russia, Ukraine, Canada, Syria, South Sudan and Uganda, these papers critically examine digital and aesthetic spaces of transitional justice beyond its traditional normative architecture and call for greater attention to both the opportunities and risks within these spaces. Empirically and conceptually thickening the gaze of transitional justice these papers explore and contend with the plurality, possibilities and perils of archives, artifacts and memory within transitional justice in times of crises across spaces ranging from social media, the arts and textiles.
