Abstract

This Roundtable will discuss Feminist Political Economy and International Relations perspectives on the European Union. We will investigate why the economic and financial crises post-2008 has triggered more gendered research on European economic governance and ask if this has set the stage for a more international feminist perspective on the European Union? In international conflict settings, these discussions have had an international perspective from the start, looking at the intersecting crises of political economies and the effects of war/conflict on such economies. The full-scale war on Ukraine at the borders of the EU and questions of international trade conflicts between different regions of the world have also impacted policy decisions within the EU. We will discuss how these dimensions intersect in political economies and lead to further challenges regarding the environment, LGBTIQ rights and gender justice.
